Solid basic hat

This hat is exactly what it says it is, offering excellent value for money. Available in a lot of fun colors and sizes big enough for those of us with planet-sized noggins, it is a great hat for what it is. It won’t be the best around in terms of materials or finish, but for its price, I don’t think it could be beat. Getting a better hat would probably cost you two or three times as much. One note. The description says you cannot change the hatband, but anyone with a bit of sewing knowledge can do it. It will be easiest with rayon Petersham ribbon (hard to find, but more adaptable to the slightly conical form of the hat that grosgrain), but if you are willing to soak up some accumulated extra material behind a bow, it is much easier to find 1.5” grosgrain and it will work well enough. But be careful: This felt shows every needle mark, so take your time and place your stitches carefully. I wish the crown was about a half an inch taller, but I suspect that the crown height on my XXL was about as large as the felt blank would allow without shrinking the brim. So, if you want a no-frills, solid porkpie, this is great value. If you want a high-end hat, look a little further.
