OzTerrain Electric Kitchen - BASE Unit

Great idea, but has some floors.

Detailed and honest review after 3 weeks full-time on the road in the QLD and NT. Firstly, it’s a crackin idea to have everything relating to kitchen cooking within a tough single unit, exactly what I wanted for the back of my Ute. However, it is very over-priced for what it is and the inclusions are cheap. Pro’s: - good quality hard case, dust and water sealed - well thought-out use of space, but keep in mind the depth and height of case. - lift up panels are very useful. You’ll be surprised what you can fit under there. Cons: 1) lid of case doesn’t sit back enough and slams down very easily in the lightest of wind. Need to add an arm to make it stay. 2) electric tap on this base unit is very cheap, the charging port has corroded and already won’t charge after only 2 weeks of use inland before I even got near saltwater! So now it’s cactus. 3) threading the hose of electric tap through the exit hole each time is a real pain. Be better with a tap outlet all pre-plumber for this price. I got an adaptor to suit the hose from Bunnings to a normal tap fitting which is great, but can’t use it now given tap won’t charge. 4) included light charge will only last about 1-2 nights before it dies down, clearly a very small battery as we don’t leave it on for too long. 4) USB charging points on the included light (old USB) are different to the tap (USB-C). Very annoying. Other than that, it is still handy unit. With some of the improvements above and better quality tap, I think it would be more suited to the asking price.
