Nice but has a bad odor

It’s a beautiful piece that will look really nice on a kitchen countertop, but when I opened the package it smelled like chemicals and the plastic bag surrounding the item was covered in some type of oil. Not sure if this is normal or not, and I wonder if the odor will impact any salt that is stored in it.

Love this nice sized salt box. Even with 2 compartments there is room for small shovel inside. Great selection of items and helpful and friendly staff at Cassandra’s Kitchen.
