Utility Rack

Excellent Rack. But You Might Need to be Creative

Recently I decided to change my bars and decided on the VO Left Bank model. While on the site I looked at racks. The Utility Rack is designed specifically for the two styles of VO Utility Bars. But neither of those would suit my needs. I dug further on the site and decided the handle bar bottle cage mount adapter would secure the Utility Rack at the bars. But I would need support struts to secure the other side. I would also be challenged by my Cannondale Headshok suspension. The V-Brake mounts could not be utilized. After the rack arrived and I mounted it to the bars with the bottle cage adapters, I began searching my spare racks for the needed hardware and struts to support the other end of the Utility Rack. I quickly found what I needed, two struts with sliding mount points that fit securely to the rack. However, I still needed to secure the struts to the headset so they can pivot with the bars and rack. I ended up using a small section of chain, in which I fitted two screws at opposite sides and bolted the screws to the chain. I secured the chain around the bottom headset race, which is covered by a rubber boot on the Headshok. Using zip ties I tightened the chain. The eyelets at the ends of the struts fit on the screws and are secured with lock nuts. The rack is very sturdy and can easily accommodate a 20-30 pound load. I'm very pleased and plan to make a custom leather bag for this rack. I highly recommend!

Great little rack

Had my eyes on this for a long time and I’m so glad I finally pulled the trigger. Super easy to install, and was a suspiciously good match for a surplus waist pack that I have had for a while. It fits perfectly
