Refined!

I bought two bolt pens in black PVD coating and the fidget pen stand. They are all of great quality but, in my opinion, not in competition with Tactile Turn, BiD, Ridge, Bastion, or Silver Fox, all of which are rather more EDC friendly…the denim and boots to Refyne’s tailored suit. Indeed, Silver Fox is the only truly ‘outdoor’ pen in this group. Rather, Refyne should stand alongside andhand whose products have justly attracted awards for style and utility. Viewed as a complement to smart casual or smart office wear, Refyne and andhand are both top of their class, contemporary competition for the traditional leaders in high end affordability such as Parker, Cross, Sheaffer, and more recent contenders like Scriveiner. They punch way above their weight and could be seen as an affordable alternative to the high end products from ‘designer’ makes such as Mont Blanc. Beautifully precision-engineered with the option seamlessly to remove the clip(which I did for the model in the pen stand). Highly recommended for those who like subtle bolt action ballpens/rollerballs.

I recently bought both the Brass and Gunmetal Stainless Steel variants, the Brass for myself and the gunmetal for a mentor. I have been a firm convert of the Japanese Mitsubishi UNI-BALL ONE "F" series for years, and decided to buy a more intentional and dedicated case for the ink refills. It is about 1 centimeter larger than the Pilot G1 Ink Refills, but nothing that a little shaving off the back of the refill couldn't fix to get a perfect fit. Overall this pen body is excellent, and I intend on buying the stand for my desk when next possible.
