These Versum Cello Strings are great!
These are easy for a cello student to play on. I love the sound of Obligato on my Fiddlerman cello, but they were hard for me to play on. Basically, string crossings or any speed. I think they are too flexible for me right now. I contacted Fiddlershop and chatted with an employee. I states my issue and she helped me find a set that would work. They have the sound I like, not too bright, a sweet A string. For some reason I seem to be drawn to the E in the A string and concentrate in a string that gives a great E on the A. I can do string crossings and a faster play so much better now. Are they as mellow or soulful as I got with the Obligatos? No. The Obligatos are synthetic strings and the Versum re steel. You win't get s mellow or soulful with steel, at least not as a student. That said, these are not bright. This is a great option until I have better bowing technique. They tuned easily and held their tune pretty much right off, Not much break in time, maybe a day. Easy in the fingers. A joy to play in. I would highly recommend these. I am using these on a beautiful Fiddlerman Master Cello. Fiddlershop was a joy to work with in figuring out which strings to get. They understood what I was talking about and what I was trying to achieve with my cello string purchase. Thank you for your continued spot on professional service.
