Excellent strings, with exceptional tone!
The Versum Solo Cello String Set is exactly as advertised; warm tone, easy to play, and really well-balanced across all four strings. For starters, the A-string is not as "ting-y" as some other brands I've tried on my cello. It does not stand out from the rest like a sore thumb, which is exactly what I was looking for. The D- and G- strings have a nice depth and balance to them, with great projection from notes in fourth/fifth/sixth positions (this region usually isn't well projected or resonant, luckily with these strings I've seen an improvement in the quality of notes; it's no longer quiet and less pronounced). Finally, the C-string is comparable to a Spirocore Tungsten. They do not by any means sound the same, but they both possess good projection. On my cello, I found that the Versum Solo C-String embraced my cello's natural character, which is why I believe I like the string so much. The Spirocore Tungsten just didn't mend well with instrument, I thought it to be a bit brassy. Overall, after having these strings for two weeks now, they have become my new favorite set of strings and I hope more people give them a try. I really love how easy it is to place my fingers down on the strings (less finger pressure required), how effortless my bowings have become (less bow resistance), and I really love how much these strings have brought out my cello's voice when I play. To all of the cellists out there, give these strings a try! It's definitely worth it.
