I’m about 3/4 done with the Canvas Jacket
Things I like: The collar and cuff method. It was not a method I have ever used before but trust the process; it worked and it was a more neatly done collar and cuffs than I’d ever done. I should have lengthened the sleeves about an inch or so. They are acceptable but for me just a hair too short. Next time. I think I’d also add a bit of width to the sleeve, maybe. I got very nervous assembling the sleeves but they do fit. Not going to be able to fit much underneath, though. Things I didn’t like: The pocket method. The pocket bands just didn’t work for me and I ended up cutting new pockets and preparing/attaching them in the way I’ve always done. My fabric (toile) is a thrifted tablecloth with kind of a windowpane weave so that didn’t help. I cut the new pockets longer and on the bias; problem solved. I am waiting until later to attach the larger lower pockets in case I want this jacket shorter than suggested. Still have to do buttonholes, buttons, hem and attach those pockets. Overall I like this pattern and plan to make it again.
