Fuel Tank Repair Kit

Worked Awesome!

I repaired a rusty fuel tank for a tractor. First I dropped in a 4 ft. piece of chain and around a lb. of old drywall screws into fuel tank. I built a device on sawhorses to rotate tank on so the chain in the tank was very effective in helping remove rust. Ran 4 gal. white vinegar thru before using the degreaser. After the metal prep solution the waste water coming out of the tank was almost clear. The coating dried hard with no problem. Using the kit saved me around $2,400.00

Works great!

I used this on my 86’ Case backhoe tank that’s 26.5 gallons. It was only leaking from one seam that had rusted over the years. The degreaser is okay. Seems consistent with purple power, citrus cleaner, etc. I followed the instructions and used the degreaser cut with piping hot water. Didn’t remove all of the varnish. I repeated this process with purple power, simple green and PSC 1000. That cleaner is used as a parts washing chemical from tractor supply. It is a petroleum based cleaner, so after using it and seeing the desired results, I repeated the process of rinsing the tank with the other cleaners mentioned until the PSC odor was gone. I then used the metal etcher and realized for this size tank I needed more. I ended up buying 4 more quarts of the etcher. Very pleased with the results of that. Please include another quart of the etcher with this kit. The problem with it was that after I rolled the tank 6 different ways to coat each side, the next day surface rust would appear. This happened several times. I decided since your product is called PAINT OVER RUST a little surface corrosion shouldn’t matter. I also went and bought another quart of sealer thinking I would need it but I did not. The quart was more than enough to coat every side multiple times. I did see it not adhere to some of the corners as well as I expected. I was sure to let it cure in an upright position so it would completely seal where the leak was coming from. Also drained the sealer back into the original can and it filled about halfway up. It formed a nice thick coating on the bottom of the tank as it didn’t completely drain out. I also brushed it onto the outside of the tank at the seams so both sides were covered. It has been great, no leaks to speak of. The downsides are that it is a time consuming process, and I think more etcher should be included, a gallon. I drained all of the etcher back into the jugs for future projects. This product saved me a lot of money and highly recommend it.
