Loving it!

I’m Hugo, the sound designer at Goldbaby. I recently got the SB mk2 and couldn’t be happier. This is my new favourite colour device. From subtle warmth and saturation to in-your-face distortion… and everything in between. I’ve always used gain staging as a sound design tool, so it’s not surprising I love this box!

Cover lifted off my Mix

This machine is magic in a box, I don't know how to properly explain it, but it opens up my mix and takes off this invisible cover over the mix. And if you know what your doing you can really push this thing. I'm still figuring this machine out and what it can do. I also paired it with my audioscape d-comp compressor still trying to figure out that specific duo combination but together it gives a nice tone and control . Honestly at this price point I feel it's a steal but what do I know. Also maybe in the future I'll get the tape MOJO and see how that sounds but the hitmaker 4000 is fire though.

my 1st piece of hardware

It's my first piece of hardware in my studio and I just discovering how to use it properly, but my first impression is that this preamps are supersweet for recording and tracking. In the mojo I have Tape saturation, I haven't played enough time with it, but I noticed only passing the signal through the circuit it adds "something" and tight harsh frequencies. And the EQ is awesome, just adding a little bit of air and highs, and boosting the lows in the mix bus expands the sound and make it sound huge. I combine EQ with Aspect ratio and Vintage bottons in the mix bus and I finally can get this analog and open (I don't know if it's the word) sound that I can't get in the box.
