This is my first Japanese tenkara rod and the instant I began extending it, I knew it was a completely different creature. It somehow manages to feel incredibly light, yet extremely precise at the same time. Sort of in the same way that a katana blade is very thin and precise, but strong because of the hundreds of forge welded folds in the Damascus steel. Will update this tonight after I fish with it.
