Excellent board, but mind the heavily textured surface.

The board itself is excellent. I love the form factor, stiffness, and lightweight compared to the solid rubber boards that I own. However, one thing that I dislike is the textured surface which means that when you're cutting fruit and other vegetables on the surface, it makes it very hard to clean up. For example, a board scraper will leave food particles in the gaps, and the kitchen sponge or scrubber is also not enough to easily clean up the surface. So you really have to put it in the sink and run water and a scrubber over it to get it clean. I disliked that so much that (on one side) I sanded down the heavily textured surface to more closely emulate my other Japanese rubber boards, and that has greatly improved cutting fruit on that side. I understand that the textured surface is part of the antimicrobial treatment. So I left one side heavily textured and sanded down the other with an orbital sander with 60/80/120 and 240 grit to finish and achieve a much smoother surface. Does not really look any different but it sure cleans up different.
