Good quality, wrong length, questionable service?

I purchased this for my Altaplex because it was the suggested pole for that tent. The quality is great and the weight was spot on. My issue with this product is that it is the wrong size. It is much too long (by about 6-8 inches). When I spoke with customer support, I was told that they knew it was the wrong size and that this product was going back to the “drawing board” for re-sizing. She said that when the new one released, I could send mine in to exchange it. I was also told to cut mine down though to make it fit for current use. I asked if I would still be able to exchange it for the right size if I cut it shorter, and the answer was no… I was a bit confused and annoyed by the entire conversation and just stored it in the closet while I wait for the new one to release.
