Description
75 days. A pristine and uniform open-pollinated fennel. Finale produces thick, juicy, slightly flattened, 4 inch bulbs that have a pleasant, anise flavor. Bolt-resistant plants mean better field holding, and the bulbs have a good shelf life...

Tricky to grow in the southeast
I’ve always struggled to grow Fennel except once, but it’s prolly on my end with timing and fertility rather than the seeds or variety. Can never get it to bulb up well before frosts in the fall. And it’s too hot here in the spring usually. I get fine germination with this variety, and it’s like carrots where you have to keep moist for over two weeks sometimes. I will keep trying!

good late season
main season fennel i use Antares (grows fast, but bolts easy). Finale does a great job when planted later (end of July). stays usable till frost does it in. good flavor, good in Mario Batali's recipes and the old stand by "Pasta con sarde".

Good variety for first try
Although they did not grow really fast, the plants from this seed withstood heat and cold and are growing according to form. In fact, they are still green on November30!
