Thomastik Alphayue Viola String Set

Huge improvement

I wasn't sure whether these were the correct strings for my instrument, so I emailed Fiddlershop to ask. Got a kind response almost immediately confirming that they were correct. I'm not sure what kind of strings were on my 14-3/4" viola previously, but they were almost certainly for a larger instrument. They were hard to play and the C string always buzzed. The Alphayue strings, correctly sized for the instrument, made an immediate difference. The tone carries but is not overly bright, they are easy to play, and they have a nice warm sound that I love. Super happy with both the strings and the service at Fiddlershop!

Great strings for my viola !!

I was using Preludes on my Cecilio CVA-500 purchased through Fidderman, and decided to try the Alphayues as a switch to synthetics in lieu of Tonicas, which I use on my violin. I am extremely pleased with the balanced sound and feel of these strings, and glad I picked these for the viola. The cost is double the steel core, but worth it for sure. The steel strings, as good as they are for the price, are not quite as supple in feel, and a little brighter and louder or less subdued than the synthetics, which I prefer…These strings were stable within 2 days and sounded great in about the same time.
