Phone Pocket by Chicken Tramper Gear

Juat what I was looking for.

Perfect piece of gear?

The CTG phone pocket attaches securely to my shoulder strap. It easily holds my phone and backup battery. The pocket closes securely so items do not fall out. I use the CTG phone pocket on all of my packs, including my day packs.

Too small for my needs

I have an iPhone 15 (not the Plus) with a small case on it, and I also attach a fairly thin Anker magnetic phone grip//kickstand to the back of it. Without the phone grip, my phone did fit (but it was a little tight). With the phone grip, it was really difficult to get my phone in and out. I'd imagine the same applies if you use any type of mag-grip accessory (like a wallet). Unfortunately it didn't work for my needs, but if you only have a small-ish phone and nothing attached to it, this case might work for you.
