Excellent Pack
This is a night and day improvement from my last pack. It’s so simple but doesn’t compromise on comfort and quality. One thing for me is the shoulder strap pockets land awkwardly high on my chest, but there is enough handy storage on this pack that I’m not worried about it.

First Ultralight Pack, and it did NOT disappoint
The kakwa 55 is my first ultralight pack, took it out on a 3 day trip in the Idaho sawtooths, with about 32-34lbs total pack weight starting off. It handled the load just fine. It was definitely an adjustment going from an Osprey to the kakwa, but after a day or so it felt like an extension of my body. Excellent load carrying capability, perfect capacity, and great comfort. It does get a little sweaty for my liking on my back, and the shoulder strap pockets do ride a little higher than I’d like, but overall this pack is amazing and will be my go-to pack going forward. Thanks Dan Durston for putting out such amazing products at great prices!

Kakwa 55 Ultragrid - Beginner backpacker
I’m new to backpacking, and after doing a lot of research, I decided to pull the trigger on the Kakwa 55 Ultra Grid. While I don’t have experience with many other packs to compare it to, I can say I’ve been extremely impressed with this one. I’ve loaded it up with 25–30 lbs for training hikes, and it has exceeded my expectations. As someone still building experience and conditioning, I was honestly a little nervous about how I would handle carrying weight over longer distances. This pack has made the process much more enjoyable than I anticipated. The way this pack transfers weight is phenomenal. It feels comfortable, supportive, and well-balanced even when loaded down. The design and fit have given me a lot of confidence as I continue learning the backpacking world. I’m really happy with this purchase and excited to keep putting miles on it. Now I’ve got my eye on the X-Dome 2 next!
