Flavorful, refreshing, lighter alternative to beers for yourself or your friends. Gotta keep it fed and actively bubbling so maybe keep an extra sachet of yeast AND some yeast nutrient at the ready. I love the grapefruit flavor and have tried mango and lime as well. Highly recommended.

My Ruby Red Grapefruit hard seltzer stinks

I’ve made good batches before but this time my seltzer smells like dirty socks and tastes horrible. It smelled bad and tasted bad before I added the flavoring. After I added the flavoring it smells like dirty socks with a hint of grapefruit and tastes a lot like it smells.

Changed the recipe

I used Lutra yeast and Propper Seltzer nutrient after reading about other's stuck fermentations. Managed to hit my OG and FG perfectly. The flavor was pretty weak (I only got one packet, not the three advertised) but managed to save it with some blood orange extract I had sitting around. Lastly, I thought I had an infection near the end because it smelled very sulfur-y, but it cleared up after about another week in the fermenter. The next batch had the same problem, and I resolved it by CO2 flushing. If you encounter this smell, it's not a serious problem, probably just stressed yeast.
