Haven’t installed or used the compass yet - but the interaction with Kayak Academy was very prompt and professional. There were little/no included installation instructions (from Silva). The globe can rotate in the retaining frame. This led me to wonder whether this is a feature to allow to adjust for declination or just for fine-tuning the Luber lines in each individual installation. The Kayak Academy folks steered me straight here (no pun intended). The additional mounting kit (flat tip mounting screws and gasket had more instructions than the Silva compass itself. The online single-page Silva PDF didn’t seem to address the rotatable globe or to address Kayak-specific installation. So many of these are used on kayaks that I think would be nice if Silva provided some useful information related to that. Most of the useful instructions I found were 3rd-party information from the web.
