I ordered the Cx316 razor with the plus plate which is beautiful but for me (YMMV) was a tad too aggressive and maybe blade forward or positive, so I decided to buy this .71 mild - plate and it did not disappoint! For me, this is the best combination of efficiency and smoothness. No issues and a great shave all around. Love the look and feel of this razor. The customer service from Sean was responsive and shipping was super fast and neatly packaged. If you get a chance to get the Damascus shave soap it’s next level as well. Overall a 5 star company to deal with. Highly recommend adding a Carbon razor to your shave den.

Wet Shaving Gem

What an incredible shave! The craftsmanship from top to bottom is exceptional. The website is very thorough describing the type of shave you will achieve with each blade gap. The website baseplate is unreal and makes the stainless version much lighter. I’m still going to try the titanium down the road. Very pleased to welcome this in my rotation.

Carbob CX-316L Razor stainless steel / mild plate - smooth comfortable shave

I bought the CX-316L Razor in stainless steel, with the Mild base plate. I've used it three times so far - am not a daily shaver, so each shave was on alternate days with the first one being done on three days of growth. The blade that I used for all three shaves was the Astra blade and it wasn't changed - I usually get 2 or 3 shaves out of each new blade. My usual procedure is to complete one and a half passes, lathering before each pass. I start with a complete pass, short strokes, with the grain, face, chin, neck. My second pass is only for certain areas, like the chin, the jaw bone and my neck that needs more care - this second pass is usually across the grain - again short strokes work best. For all three shaves, I did not experience any razor burn and no cuts or nicks of any sort. The razor was very efficient in removing my 2 and 3 day stubble and the handle provided a very good grip. I like that the stainless steel provided a bit of heft to the razor - I just let the razor do it's thing - you don't need to put much pressure when shaving. I am very happy with this purchase - the razor is well made, goes together with precision and looks nice too. If you are looking for a smooth, mild, comfortable shave, consider the mild base plate and a good blade. I know there are several choices out there, but this one is a keeper - I have no hesitation in recommending this razor to anyone who is interested in wet shaving and is looking for a mild, comfortable yet efficient shave.
