Earthling Drew loves this Hammock
For starters anyone going on long hikes should be aware that you may not have the best spots to string up a hammock on the trail, with this hammock it also functions as a highly function tent so you have the best of both worlds! The snakeskins that come with the hammock create an extremely efficient way to pack and deploy your hammock, I highly recommend this hammock as it’s the best I have came across, quality and weight!

A capable shelter
I planned on some backpacking this year in some wooded environments and was tired of the typical tent setup routine. I purchased the backpacker as a low profile and impact alternative. I found the hammock materials to be of high quality and quick and easy to string up. The colors blended well into the surrounding foliage. I do like the fact that there are pockets and tie downs in the hammock to hold small items, and to be able to tie any insulation/blankets/pads into to the corners to keep them from shifting while sleeping. My first recommendation would be to spring for the larger rain fly or to bring your own. The one included is likely fine for a passing shower. If there is any wind, there does not seem to be enough coverage, and I suspect you'll end up wet. Second, I recommend bringing some cord along with you in the event that the included tie downs for the hammock and rain fly aren't long enough for the environment. In terms of comfort, if you sleep on your back typically, I think you'll love this. There is plenty of room to stretch out, and the construction of the hammock provides good support. I tend to be a side or stomach sleeper, and the hammock is not optimized for that sleeping position. If it's going to get chilly outside, I do recommend an insulation pad or using a lower temp sleeping bag. For temps above 40F with limited wind, I think this is an excellent option. If the temps drop and you expect precipitation, you will need extra gear. For warmer temps? Perfect.
