Disappointed in such that the unit is designed for 5 racks but only comes with 4. And my friends came with a package of alder smoking pellets, mine didn’t.

Great at hot smoking salmon -- with some drawbacks
Good value for the money. It does what it's made for. I smoked 1/2 of king salmon over the Labor Day weekend. The color came out great. I used the dry cure method by Alton Brown so the meat came out on the salty side. So I spread honey & sprinkle pepper on it and put it in the oven at 120F for 2 hours. That reduced the saltiness. For next cook, I'll try the wet brine method. Now the negative sides and improvements. One. It took a long while to come up to 150F. Longer than it took to fininsh a six-pack Then the temp climbed to 180F and stay there. I went through 4 pans full of the fine wood chips that came with it. Once the wood chips are hot enough, all of them would smolder. So you get tons of white smoke, temperature goes up, then no more smoke in less than 1 hour. Then I had to add more of those fine wood chips. And repeat. For next cook, I plan to use a 6 inch cast iron pan, and bigger wood chips. I think the cast iron pan will get hotter and char the bigger chips and keep them smoker longer and more consistent. Second negative is the door. It's flimsy and a hassle to remove and put back. There are large gaps on the side. The handle should be at the upper half, not at the bottom. Third negative is the power plug. There is no adjustment. I'm going to mod it using the knob from an old electric burner.
