Summertime Lettuce (68 Days)

An excellent lettuce choice

My garden always has a lettuce bed, and I usually choose a cut-and-come again blend; and lettuces such as 'Black-Seeded Simpson' and 'Salad Bowl', both red and green versions. This year is the first time I have ever grown 'Summertime' lettuce. It is a wonderful lettuce, living up to its name and reputation as being resistant to heat and tip burn as well as summer bolting. This is important as I live in California where our heat can sometimes get high. I was not disappointed in Summertime's performance, and I have been harvesting enough to give to neighbors as well as enjoying a salad each evening myself for weeks now. The head lettuce is absolutely enormous! I was pleasantly surprised too, that it is not at all bitter. I did add a couple of beautiful marigolds, also Pinetree seeds, to aid in keeping insect damage down; and there is not one bite in any of my lettuce! Summertime is highly recommended; and I will order some again next year.

Really nice lettuce

This is my first year to try a "heading" lettuce rather than leaf lettuce. This variety is large, crisp, and tasty! I will use it again.
