My Go-To Variety
I've been making homemade dills for years--trying out different varieties of cucumber to compare. Territorial Homemade has become my go-to choice. These pickles produce an abundant, steady crop. They are the perfect size and quality cucumber for making dills. They are also delicious served fresh in salads. One lesson I've learned is to cover the crop with a fine-mesh netting each evening and removing in the morning, starting late June in Alabama. This keeps the nighttime cucumber moth from laying eggs on the vines that hatch into worms that invade the crop. I started doing this last summer and it worked perfectly. It's extra work but worth the effort to save the late-producing cucumbers.

Pickles
These are my favorite cucumbers for Dill and Bread & Butter pickles. The vines are extremely productive and the fruits have a mikd flavor when eaten raw.
