Fast Germination! Doing great in the Mojave

This is my first time trying to plant garbanzo beans so I was totally surprised at how fast they sprouted - within three days! They seem to be growing fast too, although I've read that garbanzos are slow growers so I'm waiting to see if they slow down. I chose this variety since they were cultivated at a similar elevation to mine and being that they are in the Fabaceae fam. I'm hoping they help my soil out a bit too. I started them in small cells and will be transplanting them in the ground as soon as this last fall heat wave finally subsides. 8/9 seeds I sowed germinated, that's a win in my book. Looking forward to seeing how they do from here.

The critters loved them

I was happy when I saw the seeds start to germinate but the little seedlings started to disappear. Something was eating them. I think it was mice. I tried covering them with hardware wire which worked for a while but eventually either something found a way through or something else ate them.

Great germination rate, can't wait to see these guys grow up.
