Wa Wa Tsai Chinese Cabbage

Last year, I grew this variety and it was huge, but did not form a head. This year I tried again, but just about every one of them bolted. I’m going to give China Express napa cabbage a try instead, since it claims to resist bolting.

I love Wa Wa Tsai

First of all I love Wa Wa Tsai. It is the best green out there to eat. It cooks up great and so easy to digest and taste great. The seeds from Territorial Seeds were great. They all came up huge plants perfect plants. I cut them and freeze into balls and then cut again many times. I am very very happy with these and will be ordering more! Thank you!

Reliable germination; grows well in cold weather

Germination: My 2025 seeds are germinating at about a 90% success rate. I also started some leftover 2022 seeds currently with about a 15% success rate and slower than the 2025's. This makes sense as the viability will be reduced over time, but I'm still impressed that the 3 year old seeds are sprouting. I'm guessing the germ rate for the '22's will improve to possibly 30%. I'll update this review if they do better. Cold Weather: I've grown this cabbage for the past three years in Anchorage, AK. Quick growing. Tolerate low 40's quite well. Slugs and too much rain without a crop cover have been my only failures with these cabbages. They also store well in the fridge.
