Invisible Touch Liquid Foundation / F130 – Silken

I actually really like the foundation itself, but the packaging is baffling. The “dropper” does not function as a dropper—nothing is drawn into the pipette. Product simply clings to the outside when it's dipped into the bottle, so it’s essentially a dip applicator dressed for Halloween as a pipette. What bothers me more is the contradiction with the brand's sustainability messaging. The foundation arrived in thick, elaborate cardboard presentation packaging—beautiful and certainly not cheap, but ultimately unnecessary packaging that goes straight into the trash. Add an elaborate, nonfunctional applicator that uses additional material without providing the function it appears designed for, and the disconnect becomes difficult to ignore. There is something contradictory about selling sustainability through an elaborate presentation that itself creates unnecessary waste. Sustainable packaging doesn't need to feel luxurious for the few moments between opening the package and throwing it away; it needs to accomplish its job with as little waste as reasonably possible. Great foundation. Frustrating applicator. Beautiful presentation. But the sustainability message is difficult to take seriously when the packaging seems to prioritize the appearance of luxury over the reduction of waste.
