48V 120Ah Lithium Rhino Conversion Kit

Easier than I thought

I’m fairly handy, but electrical circuitry does not come naturally to me. This kit made the conversion simple. I installed the 48v 120 Ah kit in a 2011 Polaris Ranger EV. When I looked at the cost to replace the 8 deep cycle lead acid batteries, it was considerably more than converting to lithium. I watched a couple of videos in Lithium Rhino’s knowledge base and felt pretty confident at the start. There were a couple of holes that didn’t line up just right and I had to drill those, but I didn’t have to use the 48 to 12v reducer, so that saved the time that was spent altering brackets. It would have been nice if the charger port was the same size as the one I removed. I used my Dremel to enlarge the hole. Like the guy in the Polaris swap video, I had to remove my skid plate, but thanks to him I was able to better plan my bolt hole locations and I am sure that saved me some aggravation. Other than those few very minor issues, the swap was a breeze. I started on a Friday afternoon and finished up Saturday morning. I would guess I spent 5-6 hours on it and most of that was disassembly and reassembly of my Ranger. I noticed more power right away and the battery life seems excellent in my application of light farm maintenance. I highly recommend the Rhino kit.

Nice Battery|Poor Instructions|Zero Support

Just installed the 120AAh Polaris Ranger EV Conversion Kit. This is less of a kit than a collecdtion of parts; some of which are needed for you Ranger and many of which are not. There are no instructions on installing this. According to an online video, there is a PDF you can request that is very helpful. I used the Customer Service AI to request it. The AI said numerous times that it was sent. It wasn’t. When I pointed this out on 3 different occasions, it said it would elevate it to a human to fulfill. They didn’t. Why this isn’t just available online is beyond me. The only install videos are done by other people and not the company. CS was closed, so I went about it on my own. After tearing everything out and installing the battery, I turned things on. My 12v stuff all worked, but I got an error any time I tried to drive and the cart didn’t move. There were no solutions online, so I waited it out to talk with a CS rep in the morning. I called as soon as they were open and got a busy signal. I called a few minutes later and no one answered so I left a message. And another one a couple of hours later. And another one a couple of hours after that. 4 days later, I have yet to receive a call, but I did “solve” my problem. The charger that comes with the battery does not have a couple of connectors that appear to complete a circuit that tells the EV (among other things) when it is and is not plugged in, so you can’t try to drive away while you’re plugged into a wall. Once I plugged these cables into the old charger, it worked perfectly. Problem is that both chargers can’t fit under the hood, so my temp fix is that I have the old charger under the hood, and I’m using the lithium ion charger externally until I can get some help. The cart runs amazing now that the battery is working, but it was a painful install.

Great product and easy to install

Ended up getting this battery for my club car, it made a world of difference in the way my cart performed and it was easy to install. Wish I would have done it sooner.
