Durston Gear Kakwa 55 UltraGrid Ultralight Pack

I received this with some trepidation because it’s expensive. I’ve been hiking with it for five days straight and can share my thoughts. The good is that it carries weight really well, or at least it does with my minimal base weight of around 5kg. I’ve no idea how it would do if you doubled the weight, but I imagine it would still be good. It’s comfortable and light and the inner frame does a good job of keeping the pack in shape. The pockets, zips, and clips are all solid. Not so good is the fabric, which I can’t say I like very much. It feels a bit plasticky and rigid although you can tell it will be durable. What I like least are the squeaky noises that seem to be produced where the shoulder straps meet the body of the pack. They have become somewhat less over time but it can be a bit annoying on a long boring stretch to have a continual squeak. My overall opinion is that this pack would be a 5 star buy if it was £100 cheaper, but for the money it’s a bit flawed. 7/10
