Duncraft Bird-Safe® Classic House & Pole

First time bird house owner

I love my new bird house. It is well built and sturdy. It seems like I can leave it out over the winter without it being damaged. I bought the bird house to give the sparrows some where else to nest besides my vent which I had to finally cover. I put the bird house in my yard and within an hour sparrows started building a nest in it. The pole that comes with it does not seem very sturdy. It has 4 sections that slide together but they do not fit tightly together.
