After about two years of use, I can confidently vouch for these boots and if you plan on getting these 1.0 versions, it's a solid choice to consider, especially with the price reduction. For starters, the "barefoot" style applied to security boots will differ a bit compared to other barefoot shoes in these key points: It has a small lift at the end by the toes, but the flexible rubber soles allows it to flatten and it is to reduce "clop" noises when walking; a feature present in the dress shoes that Carets make. The toe box don't look wide as regular barefoot shoes, but are certainly wider and comfortable than conventionnal security boots. From what they already do with their dress shoes lineup, they shaped these boots to keep the look but add space. As for the way they did it with metal toe caps, my guess is that they took the regularly produced metal toe caps and shifted the position slightly to allow that as well.
As a result, I no longer have foot pain at the end of the workday.

Very well constructed, high quality boots. The only negative thing I would have to say about them is I wish they came in half sizes. I wear a 10.5 in pretty much everything so I opted for size 11. As a result they are just a tad long on me which makes them look a little goofy given I’m not very tall. I think for an almost $300 pair of boots there should be half-sized options.
As far as comfort goes, these are great!
