This perfume smells like poking your head into a study to speak to the occupant, only to find you've just missed them. It's warm and comforting, slightly smoky and spicy. Nothing lasts forever, so wear the nice perfume while you can.

Vanitas Still Life

An instant obsession from the moment I sprayed this. Vanitas opens with a bitter citrusy accord that reminds me of dried orange peels. It’s very much a medley of various fruits and spices. Rich and spicy with just a touch of sweetness. Then the most gorgeous aged wood emerges, like centuries-old furniture in a historic museum house. There are powdery, waxy, and smoky notes, like dozens of recently extinguished taper candles. Underneath all of this are leather and resins, but the fruity and woody notes remain in the forefront. Beautifully blended, such an interesting and unique fragrance. There are some notes in Vanitas that I typically avoid, but I just couldn’t resist buying this based on how LVNEA describes it. Now that I’ve smelled it, I totally understand the vision. The way the individual notes comes together to paint a picture is truly magical. This is a 10/10 for me. Perfectly suitable for a museum date or skulking about an old library.
