Burgundy Broccoli

Prolific fall through winter producer

This fall was my first large over-winter planting of burgundy broccoli. It outperformed the purple sprouting thanks to a warm winter. Grow this if you have been discouraged with traditional heading broccoli. It's also a nice variety in that you can harvest varying amounts for whatever needs you have. Love it!

Excellent!

Great germination that turned into gorgeous plants. Just harvested my first "heads" and couldn't be more pleased. If you have trouble getting other brassicas to head up, this could be for you. Also, interestingly, very little pest pressure with these.

Burgundy broccoli

Sept 19 2025. Cabbage loopers abundant on Burgundy seeded Aug 1 near Portland OR. Other brassicas seeded same date mostly unaffected. For some reason loopers love Burgundy.
