Water Leak Sensor 3

Hope to never hear from it again after initial set-up snafu

This sensor is set up as a back-up to another septic pump-station alarm that loses Wi-Fi connectivity a little too often for comfort. When I first connected the Water Leak Sensor 3 into my YoLink system I linked it to the hub, then immediately left for a Super Bowl party. When I got home about 6 hours later I had 82 Email alerts [one every five minutes] and 9 text alerts. That ate up a significant chunk of my monthly allotment. I have the data saver for SMS turned on, which I thought is supposed to limit texts to a single alarm per incidence, so I'm still not sure why so many texts. The Email interval can be extended to one each 4 hours, but not limited to [my preference] one alarm per leak detection as far as I can tell. The cause of all this alarming? I hadn't plugged the sensor wire into the leak sensor body yet, since I wasn't yet ready to install it. Don't do this! As with other YoLink products, the devices seem pretty good, but the documentation is not. You're kind of left to trial and error, or watching too fast and incomplete instructional video after video hoping to find the info you need to operate the devices. And the app interface consists of color schemes and tiny text that appears to have been designed for unreadability. Teeny tiny pale yellow text on a white background is but one glaring example [of many]. I like the YoLink devices, but the app needs serious work, and there needs to be much more comprehensive [ideally system-wide] instructions - dare I say an Owner's Manual. I've dealt with a couple of YoLink customer service reps [because the available instructions are inadequate] and one was pretty good. The other seemed fairly disinterested, not taking the time to understand my questions, and providing bare minimum, off-target answers.

I have several water leak sensors and they have been in use for years. Its the best water warning system. I dont usually have a water leakage situation but when I did, the house alarm went off and my phone got email messages so I could deal with the situation before any real damage occurred.
