I have a rescue puppy that I got May 12th (2026) and she was born 1/6/2026. According to the “book” of FluentPet, she needs to be with me for at least 3+ months before I can expect to tackle the button pressing. She is a Border Collie mix, so very very smart but incredibly timid from her shelter experience. So I don’t expect to see her grasp the situation right away as she doesn’t trust anything at first. That’s why I love the 365 day guarantee, in case she absolutely has no interest… but I highly doubt that as she figures out that her mind can be heard! I’m especially impressed at the FluentPet team and community. A genuine interest in seeing the progress and supporting with ideas and direction to make it a successful situation and way for everyone to live a positive better life! Thanks now even before I get fully started!

Onacōna was already ringing a bell to go outside and she was the one that realized ringing the bell got our attention. She started using the bell for everything. That’s when I thought getting the speech buttons would be effective for her. It only to about a week when she started using the buttons. We only have about 18 buttons of which she is using about 10-12 consistently. I prefer the Connect buttons the best. Using the Connect buttons allows us to hear her better and when we don’t it shows up on my phone. I think using the buttons, even though it’s not a lot, lowers her frustration of my husband and I trying to guess what she wants. I would recommend them to everyone.

A feral cat adopted me and I can't stand the guilt I feel over not knowing what she wants; that precious face, those dainty mews. So I decided to give this Fluent Pet thing a try. I just bought the starter pack for basic words such as food, treaties, play, all done, walk (yes, my cat goes for walks with me... without a harness!) and one really hard concept word- later. I confess that I am not very diligent in training and she is an indoor/outdoor cat which greatly reduces training opportunities. But we still keep plugging along. The kit is very well made, super easy to put together and record the buttons, and the company provides a lot of training for the pet parents to aid the learner pet. Watching vids of other learners is truly rewarding; to see how dogs and cats think. It is amazing to see their thought processes and how they ruminate on things for days on end, recognize people who don't live in the home, express preferences about houses, places to go, and favorite toys. Most eye opening has been that they often are not fans of music and loud TV. While some pets may not achieve this level of communication, these insights from super adept learners help all pet parents provide a more amenable living space for their fur kids.
