SMSL SU-9 PRO Amazing!

SMSL Su-09 PRO was my 3rd DAC trying to find mid-priced, sonically pure sound. Bought and used the SU-9 for 5 months. Very good DAC. SU-9 PRO is a leap forward and feels like a very different design (because it is). Very rich, pure and musical balance. I love it. The SMSL model names can be confusing. Makes more sense it this unit would havee been called the SU-10 and the actual SU-10 called SU-10 Pro. Anyway, I digress. SU-9 PRO feels right, creates an immersive experience paired with my Topping A90 Discrete and Hifiman XS "cans with a balanced Apos cable. This is at the point you start getting lost in the music and the gear fades away- that's really cool and really the goal. What I notice that is different than regular SU-9? SU-9 was super clear, but thin in the mids and bass texture could have been better. You would notice these things. Timbre was mid forward. SU-9PRO fixes all these things and widens the sound stage and offers a lush, liquid delivery of your music. I don't get that SMSL is only pricing SU-9 and SU9 PRO $50 apart. This is more like a doubling of quality. I flirted with buying SU-10, because by all reviews it is better, but how much better? Maybe 10%? Will I hear it? Probably. Is it worth $899 or $400 more? Totally subjective question. Depends on your wallet and goals. Waht pushed me away beyond price, is SU-10 size, as I only have a compact space. Conclusion. While i am clearly a "gear head" and could search for the next upgrade forever, I am REALLY happy with the amazing feature set, better remote control, and most of all "end game" sonic purity. This is an amazing DAC. And contrary to ZEOS, you can tell the difference bewtween SU-9 and SU-9 PRO. Highly recommended. And APOS is awesome!
