V2 by Pa'lante Packs

The perfect UL pack!

The Pa’lante V2 allowed me to get my base weight down to 8 pounds. This 37L pack is the perfect size and the bottom stash pocket for on the go food and wrappers along with the shoulder strap pockets put everything within hand reach on the trail. The large outside stretch pocket with a tent stake compartment provides easy access to rain gear or a sun hat. The side pockets can easily hold four 1L bottles of water if needed. The hip belt can be stashed as well as the ice axe loop. Pa’lante has thought of everything in this UL pack with attention to detail and quality. I’m glad I decided to purchase two of these V2 packs from GGG because their customer service has been exceptional. They shipped my orders fast and responded to my questions quickly. Great, but…

My second Pa’lante pack. Overall very happy. They really are comfortable, especially the shoulder straps. A couple observations: 1) I own the Desert Pack as well. Despite being very close in size, the V2 is visibly narrower in person. That’s what I wanted, so I’m happy, but FYI. For reference, I use a Nemo sit pad as back padding. I’m the Desert Pack it is completely unfolded. In the V2 it is folded in half. 2) Certain elements of Pa’lante packs are not built for bigger folks. Namely the sternum straps. Similarly, the L side bag is not that L. I’m a typical XL and I max out the shoulder strap and can’t use the cross-body strap as there is not enough room. 3) The plastic hook on the compression strap of Desert Pack works beautifully with the weight of cord they used on that pack. It can be undone but takes efforts. This also means it doesn’t come undone accidentally. The inverse is true of the thin cordage they used on the new V2 (May 2024). It sucks in a big way. An easy hack is to use a heat gun on moderate heat so as not to melt the plastic hook. You can then bend so the hook opening is narrower. Overall, very happy, except for the V2 cord issue. That should have been caught and fixed.

Finding the perfect Pa'lante

I bought the Pa'lante V2 after hearing many good reviews from friends and colleagues about Pa'lante. I was a little confused about sizing and wasnt loving how it fit when it arrived. GGG made it super simple, quick and painless to swap out the V2 for the Desert pack which I am loving. It came just in time for me to take with while traveling for a couple of months. The pack will challenge me to travel a little lighter which is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks GGG for the extremely easy exchange.
