I notice the motor turning inside my pet door but the door was not moving. My dogs have used the heck out of this door for years with zero problems. I pull the door off the wall and opened it up and there it was a broken cable. I ordered a new cable plus a new motor since I had it apart may as well change that too. Super easy to change, now it works fine again.

Good, but I wish there was Something Better
I've had the large door installed since 2021, in southern Wisconsin. It is on my west wall. During extreme cold in winter, it stops working. I've tried putting a space heater in front of it inside, using silicone spray in the guides. Out of ideas. But my biggest complaint is the cables. I end up having to replace them at least once per year. It's not difficult, but I've now spent close to as much for replacement cables as for the door. I called to ask what size the wire is so that I can just buy a spool and crimp ends, but they can't tell me. A cool upgrade would be to get rid of the battery-operated transmitter and go with an RF proximity reader such as those used in building access control. HID has some readers with really good range.

excellent process. However the new cable seemed to have an effect on the motor and it started working inconsistently. We bought a completely new door and it is working today. The old door needed to have the cable, control board and door replaced......it was only three years old.
