Premium Golden Candi Syrup™ - 5 SRM

We have used this 5SRM and 1SRM product with some pretty good results.

Firstly there is some discussion among home brewers on AHA forum recently about making invert and candi sugar/syrup. Whilst I appreciate that this is another level of home brewing creativity, it is my view that based on time, purchase of raw ingredients and if successful it might be worth it based on making a big batch at a pinch.. But if you want to concentrate on brewing another or even laying down another brew instead of wasting time, I think this is most worthy to source this product. Not just because of that we have had some nice results. We have used three pouches 1 SRM / 5 SRM combo in a Belgian Triple in a 60 litre batch, so one pouch will most likely suit needs of around 20 litres. Be careful if you are using a 3787 type or Trappist style yeast as that has a massive krausen. We added around four – five days after high krausen. Since purchased this for the second time for our next triple ferment November 2018.

Golden Syrup for Tripel

Simplicity was out of stock so tried this on an otherwise all pils Tripel. Didn't add too much color which is what I was after. Smelled & tasted great out of pack as expected.

This was the first time I brewed a proper Belgian using Candi Syrup. It is hard to define what it added but the Belgian ness (?) was certainly more on point than without it. It seems to have left an impact on mouthfeel and a subtle sweetness to the aftertaste. Certainly worth a try if your Belgians haven't quite hit the mark.
