Midea 35 Pint Energy Star Cube Dehumidifier

Works well, but picture is misleading.

The picture that is consistently shown of the Star Cube Dehumidifier is how it ARRIVES, with the dehumidifier INSIDE the water receptacle. If you are using the water receptacle, the entire thing is twice the height (bucket plus dehumidifier stacked). Thus, not nearly as compact as shown. Also, emptying the bucker requires that you lift the fairly heavy dehumidifier up and out of the bucket before emptying the bucket. I set it up as a continuous drain so didn't have to use the bucket at all. That means that I don't have to lift the dehumidifier at all other than to set it on the table next to and above the basement utility sink. Otherwise it was easy to set up and is functioning quite well. It is much quieter than my last dehumidifier. I recommend it, but only if you are aware if the pictorial misrepresentation.

Good performance; very quiet

My previous basement dehumidifier had been in service at least 5 months per year for 26 years. It was still working but the “bin fill” detector had become unreliable. I picked this model via Consumer Reports testing results. It’s a fine choice. Easy to set up. And whisper quiet. It may not be durable enough to last 26 years but we’ll see. For now at least, it’s a big improvement over my previous appliance.
