very cool design

Works just like advertised. I was surprised how well constrained the roll was, and how smooth it could unwind, not like a "tape measure" at all, it is smooth as butter. A brilliant piece of engineering! One thing to note, the resulting pole does not have a lot of torque resistance, that is just the price you pay for having something that can roll up, but it is stiff in compression and tension, so it should work fine for picking up moorings or other normal boat hook tasks. Great design PYI!

Cool, space saving product

Love the design and material used in the construction. Strong, sleek, and sturdy. Purchased two of these for a robot application.

Great Backup Hook

In my experience es a sailing instructor, I’ve noticed that students lose the boat hook overboard when retrieving a mooring line about 10% of the time on Day 1 or 2 of the 8-10 day course. This boat hook makes a great backup and is easy to bring in my bag. Plus it is just cool materials technology.
