Excellent grinder
I checked alignment with a marker and it was good. There is some seasoning needed until the grinder gets more reproducible. When I first got it, it immediately clogged and I had to take it apart to clean. I think there was still some condensation from transport, because it did not clog again after that. I still do some RDT but it's not clear if I really need it. Using an IMS precision basket made dialing it very straightforward for several coffees. The stock basket on the other hand was very spritz-y. You do need to grind quite fine with the stock burrs to generate enough fines for espresso, and this makes it more difficult to get turbo shots or other low pressure shots because the water just goes straight through when grinding coarser.

Problems
The first use right out of the box has grounds being backed up and not coming out of the chute. A search online shows lots of people having this issue. It appears the fix is to take it apart and modify or remove the clear plastic piece behind the plasma generator. One would expect a thousand dollar machine to function properly ($650 + $300 burr replacement). I am not happy.

Fast, accurate, and quiet
This is an amazingly solid grinder that grinds quickly and quietly. How quick? My old conical burr encore took around 30 seconds to grind 35 grams of beans. The DF83 grinds the same batch in around 5 seconds. The grind is beautifully consistent, easy to adjust and provides an awesome espresso grind. About the only drawback (very minor) is that the "manual" is laughable. Almost no useful information.
