Delighted!
Along with the 4.0mm and 13.0mm DeLites that I earlier purchased — also from All-Star — I now have all the DeLites that I had on my ‘to buy’ list. I am very happy and satisfied.

7mm DeLite: a success story.
I have an exotic Takahashi f/15 60mm refractor. There’s a lot of chatter on Cloudy Nights etc. about how well an expensive Orthoscopic or Plossl eyepiece works on challenging objects. I’m in no position to downplay the performance of an expensive 7mm orthoscopic. The lack of ergonomic eye-relief nixes their utility for me. My 2.5x Powermate and good 18mm Ortho works well. Very well. But that porky Powermate with a mostly-brass T-V Plossl is a heavy combo. Using the 7mm DeLite on Saturn at 129x in my 60mm Tak, I see jet black sky right up to the globe of the planet. Scattered light? I don’t think so. Eye relief is glorious. The adjustable eyeguard is something I didn’t understand until I bought one. It works superbly. The 7mm DeLite is quite a bit lighter than the bare 2.5x Powermate. So it’s easier to keep my little scope in balance. As my mount is undriven, the DeLite’s apparent field of view (62°?) is a blessing. At f/15, Saturn is razor-sharp out near the edge of field. It’s a truly remarkable eyepiece. I’m tempted to say I’m delighted with it. Let’s instead say that I’m over the moon with it. (I’m in Victoria, BC).
