Yep, it's yeast all right. Seems to work ok, but won't know what the wine is like until it ages for a while. The barrage of e-mails asking for a review of a standard product are pretty annoying, though.

Worked great for hard apple cider

I normally brew beer, but have some family members that can't drink it due to dietary issues. They love apple cider, so I bought this to brew a 5 gallon batch. I used 2 packs of Cote Des Blancs yeast, 5 teaspoons yeast nutrients, 5 gallons Mott's apple juice, and 2 pounds dark brown sugar for a very drinkable cider. My friends liked it so much I just started my second batch. I probably needed only one pack of yeast, but since it's so cheap and I added the extra sugar I figured two would work fine and it did. This is a great cider yeast.

so far so good. it would be great though, if in future packaging you could devise a method that divides the amount into at least quarters. some wine recipes call for only 1/4 of the package and to some that are just starting it may be difficult to apportion a small amount.
