Excellent instrument (good case, too); prep and post-sale service are top-notch
I've had my new Alhambra 4P for about two weeks now, and I'm besotted. It sounds better every time I take it out of its case. That's not so unusual, I suppose, as newly tuned strings settle in, but I think the guitar itself is becoming more resonant at the same time. It's got a rich, warm tone with plenty of volume but also ample range for dynamics. Because I'm getting old, I appreciate the flatter neck, which requires less strength in my left hand and wrist. I haven't found any false spots -- e.g., where playing a the same note higher up on a lower string is a wee bit off from the same note played on another string. (There's probably a technical term for this, but I don't know it.) I care more about the sound and playability than appearance, but I have to say that this instrument is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. The matching case is a must. It really plush, so it cradles the guitar with no give whatsoever. Sure, I know this sounds weird, but I feel like I'm tucking the guitar in for the night when I put it away after an evening's session with it.
From what I can tell, Geoff is everything that you read about him. After talking on the phone for a while, during which he never gave the least impression that he was in a hurry or that he mainly wanted to close the deal, I had absolute confidence that he'd check over the guitar carefully, prepare it for shipping and delivery, and get it to me on the promised date. We've exchanged messages a couple of times since then, and he's always very quick to reply with helpful information.
Finally, I had been worried about buying a guitar online for shipping to my home. I needn't have been. I did try several guitars first at a large music store so that I could get an idea what I was buying, but Geoff's care and service put to rest any concerns I'd had about ordering an instrument online.
