Perfect middle single-coil for an HSH upgrade!
I bought the Classic Blues (RWRP) to place in the middle position of a 90s Yamaha RGX 421 DM with an HSH configuration. It works beautifully alongside a pair of Tonerider Generator humbuckers. Being Reverse Wound/Reverse Polarity, it provides excellent hum-canceling in positions 2 and 4, delivering those classic, glass-like in-between tones with incredible clarity. Compared to the stock ceramic pickups, this Alnico V single-coil brought back the touch-sensitivity, sparkle, and dynamics the guitar was desperately lacking. It’s articulate, quiet when paired, and sweet-sounding. Highly recommended for any HSH project!

Brilliant Pickups - Excellent Customer Service
I find the Classic Blues pickups offer a range of brilliant tone based on subtle adjustments to pickup height. The recommended 2.5mm provides higher output and full bell-like tone. I prefer the bass and treble sides at 3mm for a slightly more vintage chime. Unlike Fender vintage stagger pickups the 3rd polepiece is lower on Toneriders and mitigates stratitis warble. I initially purchased the Apex Plus set but with every imaginable adjustment to pickup height and EQ I wasn't happy with the tone. Tonerider were kind enough to allow me to return the Apex Plus for a full refund. With Tonerider's Classic Blues and an EQ pedal I can dial in the exact tone I need. Thank you Tonerider.
