Noble Audio FoKus Rex5 True Wireless In-Ear Headphones

Let me say up front that I am NOT a fan of Bluetooth headphones. That being says I would figure $400 plus for a headset should give me reasonably good sound. This set let me down. There is simply not enough headroom to allow for dynamics, sibilants, attack, etc. to make the listening experience even slightly realistic. My theory is that a Bluetooth headset direct hand room for decent amplification. I notice distortion starts occurring at high volume levels which lead me to believe compromises had to be made with amp quality. The controls on the headset are far too touchy, to the point where you can’t adjust the set after that are in your ear without making Bluetooth disconnect or some other change occur. While I surcoats the level of sophistication built into the logic of the controls, sometimes technology can get in the way of actual use. The ear cushions do not fit well. I’ve tried a few of them… none actually create a seal with my ears. And… several of them don’t even fit around the stem! Sound isolation is non existent. A reasonably noisy YMCA was too much for these headphones. That being said I could live with the compromises for the sake of the benefits of Bluetooth IF THEY WERE WORTH OVER $400! I waited awhile to write this review figuring I would eventually figure out the quirks of this headset and, for the most part I have done so. I’ve tried Apple Music on my iPhone and on my MacBook. I’ve used it with Roon, and to write music with Sibelius. I’ve pretty much figured out where I can touch the headphones to make adjustments and have downloaded the EQ app to tweak the sound. All this has made the headphones livable however I fail to see any improvement over $200 etymotics, for instance, and my Vmoda XS, which is well worn but still kicking. Again I am not a big fan of Bluetooth. This headset has not changed that.

Tip is semi proprietary and LARGE so tip rolling these is rather difficult. I ended up using clarions. The set is a strong V shape tuning with big sub base. But the bass is not very resoving and very muddy. The app is useful and built in 10 band eq helps a lot. This is not an end game wireless set.

Great purchase! Excellent sound, it has exceeded my expectations! The order arrived very quickly and without any problem! I will recommend it!
