Style and Durability

I researched a number of backpacks before pulling the trigger on the Carl Friedrik City-hopper, and I am generally happy with my decision. I have used the pack now for both business and personal travel including a trip to Europe. I purchased the black leather version and it did not have an odor as reported by some reviewers. The pack is well made, stylish looking, and durable. It still looks new after a few trips and some fairly heavy use. I recommend using nubuck waterproofer and leather treatment before use to prevent stains. For business travel there is plenty of room for my 15" HP laptop, toiletry kit, cables and chargers, a few personal items, and a light jacket, and the pack is not overloaded. I generally sling the pack over one shoulder and it stays on pretty good. For personal travel there are not many compartments for stashing gear and if you like to carry extra clothing or a pair of shoes I would consider another option. I do like the water bottle pocket and having a full zipper main compartment makes it easy to get to items at the bottom of the pack. The opening for the front pouch is small which makes it a little tedious to get things in and out so its probably best for small seldom used items. The shoulder straps and back padding are good quality and keep your back well ventilated, but a more ergonomic (curved) shoulder strap design, or a front clasp, would make it a better and more comfortable all day pack for touring streets, shops, and museums in Europe. Bottom line, I like its unique style and build quality and would buy it again.
