Briess Pilsen (Light) Malt Extract Syrup (LME)

Not up to par

I ordered the Briess Pilsner LME syrup for brewing a Koelsch. I have used this product before for kolsch and it works well. Unfortunately the syrup was not, as advertised, “the lightest extract available.” It was amber with a slightly roasted flavor. It might have been fine for an Alt or other darker ale, but it was not suitable for what I wanted to brew and did not match up with the hops I had intended to use, so I got a batch of beer that I really didn’t want. Stricter quality control in the future would be welcomed.
