Terminus 8700

I was looking for a pack for going overnight hiking with kids in alpine locations in New Zealand - tenting above the bushline, on snow, etc. I wanted a pack to carry a lot of volume - sleeping bags, winter clothing, tents for multiple people. This pack has a carry volume to pack weight ratio that seems to be one of the best available anywhere, and wasn't available locally in New Zealand, so I spent an ungodly amount of $ on shipping and import fees to get it here. Haven't carried serious weight in it yet but a test fit was fantastic. The weight is awesome for the volume AND it has features many 'ultralight' packs don't have - top lid with pocket, rear pocket (which is great for stashing kids layers, food etc on the move), and full side zip. Only thing I will change personally is adding two ice axe loops/toggles to the rear of the pack, but that's something not everyone in the target market would want and reasonable for me to add later. I'm a 36. 5" waist and bought the Large and it seems like the right size, at least before I've carried a heavy load for a long time.

I really like this pack. It's almost unbelievably lightweight for the available volume and load-carrying capacity. It cinches down nicely to a small size when not carrying much or using for a day-pack. I've used the internal load cell several times for boned-out meat and it works well and has more capacity than it appears. I've also packed larger quarters and such in the main compartment, and like both options in certain situations. Overall, I'm happy with my decision to buy this versatile and lightweight pack.
